A question many have tried to attribute different answers to. And on days when life’s complications throw itself our way, the question grows even louder. But like all objective truths, there is only one right answer.

And who better to give it than the One who brought you here?

Thankfully, we have the Word of God, and this May, we’ll be digging and deciphering the truth of our existence as Christians, and as the body of Christ.

We kicked off the theme On Purpose with the sermon The Ultimate Search last Sunday.

And as our Apostle defines it: “Purpose is that one thing you were created for, and at which you must succeed, otherwise any other thing you succeed at will not count.”

In the same way, there has to be a holy obsession that burns in our hearts for the One we love, Jesus. A deep desire to know Him more, to understand Him better, and to grow closer to Him daily.

This month’s theme is all about Jesus, and I truly hope it has opened your eyes to see Him more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly.

We will be gathering again tomorrow at CCI Lagos Island Campus to talk about nothing else but Jesus. I want you to be there, my dear sibling in Christ.

So, I learned by watching many cooking shows how to sprinkle salt properly (no matter how little).

Bougie!

And funny.

I might have been cosplaying a chef, but this method has proven to be effective because the salt actually spreads. And honestly, we have a higher chance of appreciating the flavor of salt in our meals when it’s properly spread, not left in one part of a meal.

Salt, in this case, is the message we carry as believers. This is why last week, in line with our teaching series — Standing Out and Reaching Out, we spread the message beyond the walls of our worship hall into the streets.

We spread this gift of the gospel across Lagos Island last Sunday, and we’re confident that this act of evangelism went a long way.

Heartbreak!

Those are the moments when we feel slightly betrayed by that little voice in our head that usually tells us when to stop adding salt.

But when it comes to our lives as believers, there’s really no such thing as being too salty.

The world is in desperate need of what you carry. So instead of holding back, we must throw away the measuring spoon and pour ourselves out without restraint.

This month’s teaching series, “Standing Out and Reaching Out,” is so important to our spiritual lives and the kind of impact we’re called to make on the earth.

We kicked off the theme last Sunday, and tomorrow we’ll be exploring “Set Apart — Not of This World.”

So iron your clothes, polish your shoes, and most importantly, prepare your heart to be strengthened and built up by the Word.

The Love Code series has been nothing short of amazing. So good that I’m looking forward to next year’s. We have learned so many invaluable lessons, had honest conversations about love, choosing wisely, marriage and doing love God’s way.

We’ve also had fun. Different shades of fun.

How has this Love Code month been so far?

My dear singles, I hope you’re breathing fine and nobody is pressing your neck 👀

And no, I don’t mean that sarcastically at all. What a gift it is to have access to this kind of knowledge before making life-altering choices.

And to my dear married family, I hope your marriages are being positively impacted by the teachings this month. 🤍

PL said something during last year’s Love Code series that really stayed with me. She said, “Love Code month is a deeply spiritual month.”

Sometimes it’s easy to downplay teachings on relationships and marriage, or to approach Love Code with less seriousness than we would other themes. But the truth is this: it’s deeply spiritual.

I have a confession: This time two years ago, I rolled my eyes at this sort of announcement.

“Why couldn’t we just focus on staying fired up to realise our major goals for the year?”

But maturity can be measured in many ways, and today, it looks like the realisation that love is a major goal. After all, Jesus spent over 30 years preparing to demonstrate the greatest act of love.

How’s your week been so far?

I hope it’s been a good one, and if it hasn’t, take heart…Ebenezer is with you.

I’m really happy to be catching up with you again this week😊

When I first started driving, I developed a little habit. Every time I got into the car, I’d pop a piece of gum into my mouth — partly to stay alert, because we all know how interesting Lagos roads can be.😅

I didn’t realise how deeply the habit had formed until one day I got into the car for a very short drive and immediately started thinking about gum. I didn’t even need it, but the whole drive felt strange without it. (But God has delivered me now 😂.) It’s just fascinating how the human mind works.

In the same way, we’ve collectively agreed that this year, not a single day will pass without us communing with God in prayer and through the study of His Word. But to keep that agreement, we’ll need a lot of God’s help and intentional structures.

We need to set triggers.

For example:

– Once I wake up, I pray before touching my phone.

– Before I eat physical food, I’ve fed on the Word.

– Every Sunday, I’m planted in church.

– Every midweek, I stay plugged in.

Our pledge to devotional consistency this year will thrive on structure, because without structure, consistency eventually fades.

Like I’ve said before, this is a year to take fellowship with your brothers and sisters seriously.

God has a word for you in tomorrow’s service.

How’s our Ebenezer Year starting off?

We’ve been learning so much about setting up altars, and it reminded me of a particular season in my life when I was struggling with my health. During that time, God placed a specific song about His faithfulness in my heart. I sang it over and over again — it carried me through that season.

Fast forward a few years later, when my mum was very sick and the situation felt hopeless. One morning, I woke up completely drained, tired, fearful, and mentally exhausted. I honestly didn’t have the strength to pray again. Still, I reluctantly joined a prayer call, and guess what?

The very first song the prayer leader began to sing was the exact same song God had placed in my heart years earlier when I was also sick.

Hearing that song immediately took me back to how God healed me back then. All the fear left instantly. And even though I hadn’t yet seen the physical manifestation, I was deeply convinced that my mum would survive.

And she did.

That moment made me truly understand the importance of surrounding ourselves with things that help us remember the faithfulness of God and our commitment to always side with Him. Just as we’re learning, altars can be seen.

This is such a sensitive year, and I want to encourage you as much as possible: don’t miss Sunday services or Midweek services. You will be better for it.

I’m so glad to be stepping into 2026 with you. As a church, we are grateful for how far God has brought us, and genuinely excited about what’s ahead.

This year, our theme is Ebenezer — a simple but powerful reminder that “thus far, the Lord has helped us.” If you pause for just a moment, you’ll probably realise how true that is for you personally, too.

Think about it. Some things worked out better than you expected. Some things didn’t, but you’re still here. Some prayers were answered in ways you didn’t even see coming. That’s Ebenezer! It’s about taking a breath and saying, “God really did carry me through.” It may not have been without challenges, but God carried you faithfully.

One great thing about starting the year with this mindset is that you know, if God has helped you this far, then you’re not stepping into 2026 anxious or unsure. You’re stepping in thankful, confident, and full of expectation for what He’s still going to do!

Throughout the year, you’ll hear this theme woven into our messages, our worship, and our moments together as a church. Ebenezer will keep pointing us back to God’s track record, and steering us forward with fresh confidence.

So, as January begins, take a moment first to remember. Take stock of how God has helped you. If nothing comes to mind, borrow a little joy from the lives around you. And if all else fails, go back to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 😌

We have been reset, recalibrated, and re-centered.

Now, there’s always the temptation after powerful meetings like this to relax or slowly drift in our devotion… but no, no, no. 😅

This is the time to apply more pressure.

This is the season to go back and re-stream the Reboot Camp sessions, again and again, until the Word seeps into your spirit and begins to shape your daily decisions.

This is the time to lean fully into fellowship with the saints, to stay planted, to stay accountable, to stay burning.

This is not the season to miss Sunday service or drift into spiritual isolation.

What God has started, He intends to sustain, but we must stay engaged.

So, as we step into this new year together, let’s be deliberate. Let’s guard what we’ve received. Let’s walk out the instructions we’ve been given. And let’s keep showing up hungry and expectant.

So join us tomorrow at 9AM at Queens Park Event Centre as we gather again in God’s presence.

Please don’t come alone. Bring a friend, a sibling, a neighbour and yes, I’m very much looking forward to seeing your beautiful face. 😊
